Ichthammol 

Properties:

 Ichthammol is a reddish brown to almost black viscous liquid with a strong characteristic odor. It consists mainly of the ammonium salts of the sulphonic acids of an oily substance prepared from the destructive deposits together with ammonium sulphate and water.

Solubility:

 soluble in water partly soluble in alcohol and in ether.

U.S.P.  solubilities:

 soluble 1 in 10 of water miscible with glycerol fixed oils and fat

 partially soluble in alcohol and in ether.

Uses:

  Used in some pharmaceutical preparation like Ichthammal Ointment.

Jar containing 250 gm and 500 gm and 1 kg.
